Allons Danser

Allons Danser
It's late at night
and our sorrows are drowned
All is quiet
round the old hometown
The lines that form
in the morning light
Are out of mind
Now that they're out of sight
Worries are forgotten
Trouble's all gone
Let's put off till tomorrow
While the band plays on
CHORUS:
Allons danser allons danser
Yippee yippee ti yo
Yippee yippee ti yay
Looking at the world
through eyes of glass
Laughing at the world
While it all goes past
Now the drawn curtain
hides the pouring rain
and the child's face
pressed against the window pane
The dancers spin
round the middle of the floor
They close their eyes
As the band plays more
CHORUS
It's late at night
sorrows are drowned
All is quiet
Round the old hometown
Them safe behind
their castle walls
Thinking safe from the fate
that awaits us all
Them looking at the world
through eyes of glass
Them laughing at the world
as it all goes past
But now the drawn curtains
hide the pouring rain
And the child's face
pressed against the window pane
The lines that form
in the morning light
Are out of mind
Now that they're out of sight
Worries are forgotten
Trouble's all gone
Let's put off till tomorrow
While the band plays on

Silverbird

SILVERBIRD
If she would've walked away
I could have caught up to her anyway
and talked to her of many things
I'd sing to her of the joy she brings
"Oh! Please, please"
then I could say
"Pretty baby don"t you go away"
But she flew off in a silverbird
I didn't even get to speak a word
Now I hate airplanes
one took my baby so far away
If the bus had been her ride
I could have gotten in my car for an all-night drive
to the big bus stop on down the line
at least the chance would ease my mind
then it would not feel so bad
if we could speak of the dreams we have
But silverbird
it swooped so swift
I could not speak a word of this
Now I hate airplanes
one took my baby so far away
if she would have caught the train
I could've hit the switch to turn it back again
See that big old train going down the track
Make that big old train take my baby back
Then "Please, please"
I could say
"Pretty baby don't you go away"
But silverbird with metal skin
could not sense the shape I'm in
Now I hate airplanes
one took my baby so far away

Rainy Days

RAINY DAYS
In tiny little circles, do we dance and play
It’s almost touching, it’s oh so safe
Never taking chances, chances fade away
What are we saving up for that rainy day
CHORUS
Rainy day rainy day
While we watch and we wait for
Rainy days rainy days
The time just slips away
When all that’s precious
Is locked away
Waiting for rainy days
I finally found a letter that you left behind
I get the message in every line
I want to answer I hope and pray
That you can hear me on this rainy day
CHORUS
REPEAT 1st VERSE

Whistling Wind

WHISTLING WIND
The whistling wind
brings a message to me
It whispers the words
as it winds around me
I hear music everywhere
even when there's no one there
Singing sounds
come to me
I hear voice in harmony
The tropical breeze
sings a topical tune
The dry desert air
draws me into a room
I hear music in the air
Bringing stories from somewhere
Whether storm
or gentle breeze
I hear voice in harmony
I hear the song
that you're singing to me
I linger on the lines
of your sweet melody
I hear music all around
in every noise and every sound
And even then
you talk to me
I hear voice in harmony
I hear music in the air
Bringing stories from somewhere
Whether storm
or gentle breeze
I hear voice in harmony

Heaven Here
04:09

HEAVEN HERE
My angels all wear suits of flesh
the saints sit and talk about the weather
The fallen always get another chance
Nothing here lasts forever
If every day
we wash away just a little of the dirt
We can, my dear,
have heaven here
With just a little bit of work
The seraphim play on old guitars
with hats before them on the ground
Good people gather in the park
if just to sit and look around
If, as they sing,
it comes to bring just one of them to smile
It's all so clear
It's heaven here
if only for a little while
We're all living in heaven
What’s on the tube tonight in heaven?
What’s there to do tonight I heaven?
Think I’ll cruise tonight in heaven
Think I’ll live my life in heaven
Think I’ll go out tonight in heaven

My Louisiane

MY LOUISIANE
Maw-Maw was pretty when She was young
She ran through the Prairie neath the Golden Sun
She rested in the shade of the big Oak Tree
I loved those stories Maw-Maw told to me
I’d close my eyes and go slipping back
to a Paradise outside a shingle shack
Where Maw-Maw did dance footloose and fancy-free
Somewhere in the Country out around a big Oak Tree
My Louisiane!
My Louisiane!
Maw-Maw sometimes She'd look so far away
back to a time when She was young at play
She held this little baby mesmerized
as I drifted off to Dream about a place called Paradise
I look out the window
man, I love the Rain
I look out the window
but I know it's not the same
as the picture that was painted
as I sat on Maw-Maw's knee
as I look at the place
where there used to be a big Oak Tree
My Louisiane!
My Louisiane!

Back to Work
03:01
|

I'm standing in the garden
Where everything is grown
and as I look around me
I wonder what went wrong
The seeds were strong and healthy
But the fruit is small and weak
I'm a disappointed farmer
With little time to speak
Little time to speak
So I'll get back to the land
And dig my hands into the dirt
And get back to work
I remember when we planted
My many friends and I
We braved the stormy weather
We danced beneath the sky
Now some gave up and some are gone
Yes time did take it's toll
But some are left with fiery hearts
And oh so full of soul
Oh so full of soul
And we'll get back to the fields
And dig our hands into the dirt
And get back to work
I'm standing in the garden
Where everything is grown
And as I look around me
It's time to get along
The wait won't be unbearable
I'm here to testify
Oh can I get a witness
Oh neighbor won't you try
Neighbor won't you try
And join us in the fields
And dig your hands into the dirt
And get back to work
